The DevOps process flow should be understood.

If you’ve been paying attention to the IT and creation worlds, you’re aware that DevOps is having a moment. In 2018, Forrester declared 2018 to be the “Year of Enterprise DevOps,” and the popularity of DevOps grows year after year.

And it’s not without excuse. DevOps had already been implemented in 50% of enterprises by the end of 2017.

As the future of IT operations looks to DevOps, it’s critical to consider what the DevOps process entails and how businesses can better adopt this new strategy.

What exactly is DevOps?

DevOps is a theory and practise that emphasises agility, teamwork, and automation in IT and development processes.

Traditionally, software development was done in silos, with IT and development teams and processes operating separately. This division and conflicting principles provided an atmosphere fraught with miscommunication, poor alignment, and development delays (the operations department has even been dubbed the “War Room” by some).

DevOps is an answer to the creation culture of “us vs. them.”

The aim is to enhance coordination and collaboration between IT operations and production, build more seamless processes, and align strategy and goals for quicker and more effective delivery.
